Costa Rica’s presidential website hacked by LatinHackTeam


The hacker group known as "LatinHackTeam", break into the Costa Rica Presidential website(www.presidencia.go.cr) and defaced the site on last sunday. According to Communications Minister Francisco Chacón, there is no further damage on site.

The intrusion was detected by IT Experts while doing regular backups of the website.The 'Latin Hack Team' hacked nearly 13,305 websites including various government sites in Spain, the United Kingdom, Venezuela, Chile,India and the Dominican Republic.

Chacón said officials “have identified the country of origin as well as the IP address of the computer used so that appropriate measures can be taken."

He also said the website's information was never at risk because it is physically stored in different places at separate servers, so these events do not affect users.
