Apple Java update fails to fix the critical vulnerability


Apple has issued its own Java patches for OS X Users that fixes the low-risk security vulnerability in Java(CVE-2012-0547). They failed to patch the critical vulnerability (CVE-2012-4681) which is being exploited in the wild.

The security updates are available for Mac OS X Snow Leopard, Lion and Mountain Lion systems.

This update disables the Java plug-in when no applets are run for an extended period of time. If the prior update named "Java for OS X 2012-004" was not installed, this update will disable the Java web plug-in immediately.

Anyway, Users can re-enable Java applets by clicking the region labeled "Inactive plug-in" on a web page.
