Hacker arrested for hacking email and attempt to steal money

27- year-old Hacker arrested by Cyber Crime Wing of Punjab State Crime Branch , Mohal for hacking another person email address and changed the account details in order to get funds transferred into his account.

Ravi Shukla, A resident of Kanpur ,works in a Cyber Café , has been booked under various sections of the Information Technology Act, cheating, fraud and forgery on the complaint of Raman Banotra, a resident of Amritsar.

“The e-mail ID contained various useful and significant data about the company. After hacking the e-mail ID, the accused also changed the profile and managed to get payment in his own bank account", said an officer involved in the investigation. A team of Cyber Crime officials investigated the matter.

His crime is confirmed on the basis of analysis of IP address used to hack the mail id. Investigations revealed that the motive behind the act was cheating, fraud and monetary gain.

The accused was produced before a Kanpur Court and was then brought to Mohali on a transit remand. He was produced before a Mohali Court and has been remanded to two days police custody.

During the investigation, it was also found that the accused was habitual in hacking e-mails and websites related with business concerns. The police recovered two laptops and three pen-drives from his possession.
