Microsoft India store website hack may have exposed credit card details

 Microsoft has reportedly revealed that credit card info of its customers may have got leaked in the recent security breach of Microsoft India store webstie. Earlier this month, the Microsoft's India Store website hacked by a Chinese hackers group called Evil Shadow Team. The hackers compromised the usernames and passwords.

At the time of hacking incident was reported, Microsoft India sent notification to customers assuring them the database storing credit card information were not compromised by hackers. After investigating the security breach, The company revealed that credit card details also compromised by hackers.


Wall Street Journal columnist Amit Agarwal writes in his blog that a new update from Microsoft to its customers in India says, "Further detailed investigation and review of data provided by the website operator revealed that financial information may have been exposed for some Microsoft Store India customers."

The Microsoft India store website is still offline and displays an inconvenience message "Microsoft is working to restore access as quickly as possible. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused."
